Maria Bartling, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Potter, NE on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2015.
Maria was born on April 17, 1933 to Manuel and Manuela (Rodriguez) Lopez in Cienfuegos, Las Villas, Cuba.  She attended college in Havana and was a math teacher in Cuba.  Maria immigrated with her family in April 1966.  The family settled in Toledo, OH where she met Gary, her husband of 45 years. She enjoyed gardening and was exceptionally talented in crochet and needlework.  She was a praying, loving mother and a kind friend. Maria was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Juanita Lopez.
She is survived by: her husband, Gary Bartling of Potter, NE; her sister Lourdes (Chris) Urbina of Toledo, OH; her two daughters, Ileana (Leonard) Sizemore of Temperance, MI and Rebecca (Vincent) Husted of Middletown, DE; her son, Manuel (Laura) Bartling of Lambertville, MI; two step-daughters, Kathy (Mark) Hollis of Macon, GA and Shelly (Rick) Jones of Winston-Salem, NC; step-son, Gerald (Marilyn) Bartling of Bolivar, TN; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo, OH.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.   www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
